PolicyFIRS is supporting a campaign to improve access to inhaled medicines in low resource, high-burden settings to address the massive and rising burden of death and disability from COPD and asthma.
Lack of access to inhaled medicines is causing widespread suffering and death and placing enormous demands on households and healthcare systems.
The campaign will engage governments, the United Nations and global health agencies, industry, donors, civil society organizations and media in the actions required to transform access to inhaled medicines. Greater resources to meet the urgent need for inhaled medicines now will accelerate achievement of both Global Control of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD) Action Plan and Sustainable Development Goals.
With five years left to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and the 4th High-level Meeting of the United Nations General Assembly on the Prevention and Control of NCDs in September 2025, now is the time to advance access to quality, effective, and affordable inhalers for all COPD and asthma patients.
