World COPD Day, observed annually on the third Wednesday of November, is a global event aimed at raising awareness about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), its prevention, and the importance of early diagnosis and effective management. Organised by the Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) in collaboration with the Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS), the day unites patients, healthcare professionals, and organisations to advocate for improved lung health. World COPD Day focuses on reducing the impact of this progressive and preventable disease by promoting awareness of risk factors, such as smoking and air pollution, and encouraging timely access to treatment and support.
