FIRS members Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) and the Pan African Thoracic Society (PATS), are coming together on March 21st to host a free collaborative webinar for the global respiratory community.

The virtual event will provide updates from the forthcoming GOLD 2026 Report and explore key issues of regional and global relevance in respiratory health.

The GOLD Report is internationally recognised as a leading evidence-based strategy document for the diagnosis, management, and prevention of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Updated annually, it provides clinicians, policymakers, and health systems with practical, implementable recommendations informed by the latest scientific evidence. The 2026 update will continue to reflect evolving research, emerging therapies, and global perspectives on COPD care.

Topics will include:

  • Tuberculosis in COPD: A Bi-Directional Relationship

  • Improving Global Access to Inhalers

  • The RACE Africa Project, a GOLD-sponsored initiative supporting frontline healthcare providers through training, community education, and practical diagnostic tools to improve recognition and management of COPD.

This webinar reflects the shared commitment of FIRS member societies to advancing education, collaboration, and equitable access to respiratory care worldwide.
