The Forum of International Respiratory Societies (FIRS) is pleased to share an opportunity from member society, the European Respiratory Society (ERS).
Applications are closing soon for the ERS 2026 Long-Term Research Fellowships, which support early-career researchers and clinicians to undertake respiratory research at leading institutions outside their home country.
The fellowships provide funding for basic, translational and clinical research projects lasting between 6 and 24 months, helping researchers develop new skills, establish international collaborations and advance respiratory science.
A range of fellowship schemes is available, including the ERS Standard Long-Term Fellowship, ERS International Long-Term Fellowship, Long-Term Fellowship for Scientifically Developing Countries, and several joint fellowship programmes with international partners.
The application deadline is 30 July 2026, with successful applicants expected to be notified in December 2026.
Supporting the next generation of respiratory researchers is vital to improving lung health worldwide. FIRS encourages eligible researchers and clinicians to explore this opportunity and share it with colleagues who may be interested.
