Time is running out to secure Early Bird registration for the World Conference on Lung Health, taking place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 17–20 November 2026.
Bringing together researchers, clinicians, public health professionals, policymakers and advocates from around the world, the conference provides a global platform to share the latest evidence, strengthen partnerships and advance solutions to improve lung health.
Among this year’s programme highlights is the plenary session, “Shared Planet, Shared Threats: Advancing One Health Solutions Across Ecosystems, Animals and Communities.”
The health of people, animals and the environment is inextricably linked. As emerging infectious diseases, climate change and environmental degradation continue to reshape global health, protecting lung health requires a broader, more integrated approach.
The plenary will explore how a One Health perspective—recognising the interconnectedness of human, animal and environmental health—can help address some of today’s most pressing respiratory health challenges. Speakers will examine the growing threat of zoonotic diseases, including tuberculosis and H5N1, alongside the impact of environmental change, including the effects of Amazonian forest fires on air quality and respiratory health.
By bringing together expertise from public health, veterinary medicine, environmental science and respiratory medicine, the session will highlight the importance of collaboration across disciplines to strengthen prevention, preparedness and resilience. It will also explore how coordinated action can support healthier communities while protecting ecosystems and reducing the impact of future health threats.
As respiratory health challenges become increasingly complex, solutions must extend beyond the health sector alone. A One Health approach recognises that improving lung health depends on collaboration across disciplines, sectors and borders.
